General[]

  • Phoebe has encyclopedic knowledge of Italian sauces.
  • For being such a smart kid, Arnold seems to have trouble with one word: Saskatchewan. He pronounced it "sas-uh-CHOO-in," which Helga points out.
  • The records the kids try to beat:
    • Highest pyramid of kids
    • Longest game of Crack the Whip
    • Most kids riding on a single bike
  • Sid can be seen rolling the pizza in his briefs (despite everyone else having their pants or shorts on).

Production Notes[]

  • One of the World Records holders is named Franny Caudell, who shares names with two members of the cast with the first name being shared with Francesca Marie Smith, voice actress of Helga, and the last name being shared with Toran Caudell, who was Arnold's voice actor for Season 1 and would later be the voice of Wolfgang.

Cultural References[]

  • Helga makes a reference to Don Quixote when she says "How many windmills have to knock you on your butt?"
  • Plennie L. Wingo actually walked backwards from Santa Monica, California to Istanbul, Turkey, although he stopped to sail on a boat for the ocean-crossing parts of his journey.

Story Analysis[]

  • Just as the pizza puff plan fails Arnold exclaims that he has to write a letter and leaves, to which Oskar comments that Arnold "just can't face the fact", believing Arnold will write a posthumous letter.

Morals[]

  • Don't give up, keep trying and you will succeed.
    • You could excel on things that you don't even think of. Try new things from time to time.
  • Being special and unique, or achieve success, doesn't always imply being the spot of attention.
