General[]

  • Mr. Simmons discovered he wanted to be a teacher after taking the aptitude test as a student.
  • When Stinky asks Harold to read the title of the Ornamental Horticulture magazine, the price can be seen to be $1 in United States currency, and $10 in Canadian currency.
  • It is unknown about what happened to the other tests if Eugene mixed them all up or not.

Production Notes[]

  • This is the first season 3 episode in production order.
  • This episode is one of the only episodes to use computer animation in the episode.[fix or remove]

Cultural References[]

  • Helga tells Mr. Simmons that she taught her new country accent from the Clampetts, including Jed and Ellie Mae, who are characters from the 1962 show The Beverly Hillbillies.
  • When Gerald is acting like a talk show host's sidekick, he references Ed McMahon.
  • Big Bob mentions watching "The Wheel" in this episode.
  • While trapping a rabbit, the "Chicken Reel", a motif often associated with country life, mainly chickens, is heard.

Story Analysis[]

  • It is revealed since Helga lost her previous diary in the episode "The Little Pink Book", that she was probably more careful and kept more to replace it through the years as a lot of them are seen in a big cardboard box in her room.
  • Brainy also got “Woodsperson” as a result, although it is possible that he may be saying it to ingratiate himself with Helga.
  • This is the only time that Robert Simmons disciplines Harold Berman for eating his liverwurst sandwich during class by telling him that he’ll be forced to take the sandwich away if Harold didn’t put it away in his lunch bag.
