First episode to feature an urban legend, with Gerald as the Keeper of the Tale.
The building that hosts Stoop Kid's stoop has a notice that reads "THESE PREMISES ARE QUARANTINED".
Arnold camps inside a trash can outside Park's house, just across the street from Stoop Kid's stoop.
Helga is fully absent for the first time in the series.

Stoop Kid is voiced by Danny Cooksey, and this is his only speaking role in an episode throughout the series.
- Cooksey was the star of Nickelodeon's Salute Your Shorts, had a brief appearance in the movie Terminator 2: Judgement Day and was the voice of Montana Max on Tiny Toon Adventures.

Stoop Kid reads the book The Little Engine that Could which is a moralistic children's story, used to teach children the value of optimism and hard work. However, some critics would contend that the book is a metaphor for the American Dream.

Stoop Kid also appears in the episodes "Cool Party", Eugene, Eugene! and Arnold Betrays Iggy, all in cameo roles. He will eventually have dialogue again in The Jungle Movie, precisely referencing the events of this episode.
