Phil's father is a fictional character in the Hey Arnold! TV Series.
Biography
He ran the Sunset Arms "in the old days". Although his exact birthdate is never given, he was born sometime in the 19th century, since Phil stated in Hey Arnold!: The Movie that he won the Sunset Arms in a card game in the 1890s.
He was in a flashback in "Sally's Comet". Phil mentions that he and his father saw Sally's Comet 70 years ago, when there was less artificial light in the sky (though he still had to extinguish some with a bucket of water). Additionally, in a flashback in "Eating Contest", he is seen cheering for Phil, and was brought to tears when his son won the contest.
While he seemed to have a close relationship with Phil, apparently the only advice he ever gave to his son was to never eat raspberries. He also seemed to be rather eccentric, much like his son as well as his father.
He died at the age of 91 sometime before the series began ("Grandpa's Birthday"). It's unknown if he lived long enough to know his grandson, Miles.
