Mr. Hyunh's singing voice in this episode is provided by American country singer Randy Travis, who also guest appears (as a cartoon, but still voiced by Travis) as Travis Randall.
Just like in Sally's Comet, Nashville Ned drops his donut and Arnold and Gerald take the opportunity to play something over the radio while he gets it.
When Mr. Hyunh's star begins to rise, the montage of his success reuses some of the animation from Gerald's fantasy. A vinyl is also seen playing the song on the record player, despite that CDs, even though originally it was only put onto CDs.
When this episode originally aired on Nickelodeon, Mr. Hyunh's final performance of "The Simple Things" continues into the closing credits from the final scene of him singing the song on the rooftop of the boarding house, and the song ends just as the Nickelodeon vanity card and copyright disclaimer appear at the very end of the program. When Nickelodeon started omitting the original credits of their shows in favor of electronically generated credits accompanied by promos (i.e. Credits Pushback), the final scene of Mr. Hyunh singing the song on the rooftop was extended (the animation was looped over and over again) so that the entire song could still be played on television without getting cut off.
