In this episode, it's revealed that Arnold had a picture of Lila in his room, until Helga ripped it up.
There are several references to ancient mythology. Helga mentions the Roman goddess Fortuna and Phil mentions Helen of Troy, Zeus's daughter whose kidnapping brought about the Trojan War.
When Helga throws the quarter to distract Phil from opening the locket, he says "What the Helen of Troy is that?"
Grandpa not recognizing Helga in the pile of mannequin heads is a reference to the 1982 movie E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.
This is the third time that Helga has said "freaking" in the series.
