- As the kids gather around Arnold's house, Helga walks up and puts her hands on her hips. A few minutes later, her jump rope is mysteriously in her hand and stays there for the rest of the scene.
- Grandpa starts out eating orange ice cream on a cone. The ice cream turns white when Arnold and Gerald sit closer to him. Then it turns orange again.
- It is very unlikely that a commuter train for steel mill relief workers would still be using an old steam locomotive, as by this time, diesel and electric locomotives had entirely replaced steam trains in the United States. Though it could be justified in that many of the vehicles in this series are based off older models (and not just Grandpa's Packard, but many of the other cars and buses are fashioned off models from the 1950s and 1960s).
- How did Brainy get on the train?
- Why would the train stop at the old abandoned train station in the first place? This is also not explained.
- Sulfur does not actually have a smell. It's the aftermath when it smells like rotten eggs.
- After the engineer says "I guess some people don't appreciate the polka," large flames suddenly appear outside of the train.
