This is the second time Harold and Patty interact with each other, the other being "Hey Harold!".
The music used for Harold's training montage with Arnold is very similar to the music used in the various Rocky training montages.
Building on the Sylvester Stallone reference, Harold's training montage with Arnold features a poster for a Shy Stallion movie, Armed and Dangerous! a reference to the 1987 arm-wrestling film Over the Top, which Stallone starred in. At the end of the episode, Patty recommends that she and Harold go to the aforementioned Shy Stallion movie.
When Stinky comments "An arm-wrestling couple" Harold didn’t object like he did in "Hey Harold!".
This is the second time that Patty helped someone in Arnold’s class with a problem. The first time she did it was in "Polishing Rhonda" when she was helping Rhonda Wellington Lloyd pass etiquette school.
The following female characters laugh at Harold (presumably for that Harold lost to a female, but could be because Harold was being chauvinistic or something):
Rhonda, Nadine, Sheena, Lila, Ruth, Phoebe and Helga
