Plot

Arnold and Gerald go ghost haunting at night on the boarding house after finding some strange glasses that are supposed to belong to a ghost of a scientist that used to live there but, will the ghost really exist or is it just one of grandpa phil's made up stories?

Summary

Arnold and Gerald find some old glasses, and Grandpa tells them the story of Four-Eyed Jack. Arnold is convinced a ghost is in the boarding house after hearing bumps creaks and moans. The storm causes the power to go out. Arnold and Gerald soon hear a strange noise and go to investigate. They think it's Four-Eyed Jack, but it turns out to be Oscar and Suzie having an argument. The 3 hear another noise and try to find out what it is. Oscar grabs a horseshoe he kept in his pants and prepares to fight. It turns out to be Ernie doing some hammering. They start to think there is no ghost, until Ernie says he has heard a strange noise coming from the kitchen, like someone gagging on a hoagie. They hear it and Arnold thinks it's Four-Eyed Jack. Ernie grabs his mallet and the guys prepare to destroy the noise. It turns out to be Mr. Hyunh gargling. Suddenly, the kitchen window opens, and papers take the form of a ghost. They hear a strange moan coming from the basement. Mr. Hyunh thinks they need a sacrifice. He plans on using Ernie's chicken, but Oscar asks him to use the halibut because it's going bad. They start to walk downstairs and keep hearing a weird moan. The guys all agree that it smells bad down hear. Oscar thinks they should sell the ghost to the circus for money, but Mr. Hyunh says it will make him angry. They find the door and plan to open it. Gerald thinks they shouldn't because he thinks it will make him wrong. The door opens and they think they found the ghost, but it turns out to be Grandpa. He has a secret spare bathroom that looks great, but now everyone will know about it. The gang decides to go to sleep. There isn't a ghost of Four-Eyed Jack after all...or is there? Someone invisible picks up the glasses and tucks Gerald in bed. Gerald wakes up and sees Four-Eyed Jacks ghost. He thinks he is dreaming but he isn't. The ghost says, "Um, Boo.", before leaving. This causes Gerald to scream and wake everyone up.

Trivia

  • Normally, Gerald tells the stories about ghosts, phantoms and urban legends, but this time it's Grandpa telling it instead. Grandpa also tells the ghost story in the episode "The Haunted Train".
  • During the ghost story, a young Grandma is seen cowering from the exploding pot of beans.
  • This episode was originally going to be in Season 1 but was held over for some unknown reason.
