kcheetah999, 06/02/2006 5:07 PM
- Okay, I've stumbled onto something TRULY amazing... New Hey Arnold stories written by Craig Bartlett! No lie! Here's the deal...
Aside from enjoying HA!, I also collect what few bits of HA! merchandise that's out there, including the kids story books. The books, put out by Scholastic, are excellently produced and done by all the crew that worked on the show. Written by Craig Bartlett and Maggie Groening (his wife), Covers draw by Tuck Tucker, interior art by Tim Parsons, and... if you read them, you can clearly see that these were absolutely intended to synch up squarely with the show's continuety. The stories fall into two categories; adaptations of special episodes (Summer Love, Arnold's Valentine, Arnold's Christmas, The Movie, etc.), and other stories which are obviously future episodes.
The Return Of The Sewer King
The Mystery Of The Bermuda Triangle
Arnold For President
Arnold's E-Files
It's that last one that's the most interesting, and VERY much fits in with what Craig's told us about season six. A sixth grade girl sets up a computer lab for the forth graders, allowing them to do school work, as well as a bulletin board system for the students to swap e-mail on. This goes horribly wrong on several levels, but a ray of hope appears when the mysterious "Golden Warrior" e-mails Helga and woos her with poetry and sweet talk. This would have been one ROCKIN' episode! ^__^

- Okay, where did you find these stories? is it something I can find on
Amazon or Broders, and do I need to sell my soul for them? Becasue I think
I still have a little part of it left.

- I found these on eBay, but Amazon should still have then. Do a search on Craig's name. ^__^

- Whose Craiog? I’m kidding… :)
- Covers draw by Tuck Tucker, interior art by Tim Parsons, and... if you read them, you can clearly see that these were absolutely intended to synch up squarely with the show's continuity
- REMINDER!* Someone on this board was going to scan the inner illustrations of those books for me! Who the heck was it now? I hate chasing people over the internet for materials and whatnot.

- Whose the GW? Arnold? None the less, it would have been a good episode. I even know of some fanfics that are based on a computer mix-up with A&H. Chat rooms and message boards and such.

- There were a total of 9 HA books printed, I have them all.
5 are adaptations but worth having for the art.
"Arnold's Christmas"
"Arnold's Valentine"
"Summer Love"
"Parent's Day"
"Hey Arnold!: The Movie"
The other 4 are original stories. I have read "Arnold For President," it's a great story about the election for student president, with Arnold, Helga, Curly, and Rhonda as the candidates. There's a lot of fun, and this story just has a great feel to it. It deserves to be animated.
I've also read "The Return Of The Sewer King." It's just a generic Arnold/Gerald story with nothing new to offer. It's nowhere near as good as the original "Sewer King" story from Episode 1. It's worth having to complete the collection, but don't go in with big expectations.
I have not yet read "The Mystery Of The Bermuda Triangle" or "Arnold's E-Files." Everyone raves about the latter, so I'll probably get to it soon. I wouldn't expect there are many copies of these books left in circulation, though, so I'd buy them up while you still can.

A quick search of eBay (search "Arnold's E-Files") found 4 copies for $1.32 each. ^__^

It costs a buck and some change on eBay, just go ahead and buy a copy.

- It costs a buck and some change on eBay, just go ahead and buy a copy.
- Sorry, I really don't trust the whole "buy things online" deal. I tried regiserting (Sp?) with ebay once, and it was confusing and frsutrating and I said forget it!
- Open note to anyone who has the books - I needa those scansa!

Manolo, 08/02/2006 7:30 PM
- Dear King Cheeta (and all you guys):
- I am a great fan of Craig Bartlett and when I saw your post I really tought about Craig Bartlett defying copyright laws and giving us more HA! tales... Imagine when I saw that you refer to the books I already bought (by amazon, about 2003).
- Then again, let's not despair! Those books rock, and they are really in the spirit of the series. They are sweet and wise, just like any of the HA! chapters.
- I only need book 3 "Arnold's valentine", but I have all the other books, and let me tell you, you must have it.
- Just some aclaration here: I consider myself Brainy's number one fan! I loved him since the first moment I saw him "fall" for Helga. So, I can promise all of you that if you search into these books, you will find something that surely will surprise you and reintegrate to the HA! universe, where small miraclers are just around the corner!
Manolo, 08/02/2006 7:46 PM
- Dear Laurel:
- I have found those incredible books in amazon, about 2003, and I only have a lost in my collection, lets see:
- The "Hey Arnold" books are eight books with the next order
- Hey Arnold Book number 1: Arnold for president.
- Hey Arnold Book number 2: Return of the Sewer King
- Hey Arnold Book number 3: Arnold's valentine (I don't have this)
- Hey Arnold Book number 4: Parent's day
- Hey Arnold Book number 5: Summer's Love
- Hey Arnold Book number 6: The Mystery of the Bermuda Triangle
- Hey Arnold Book number 7: Arnold's Christmas
- Hey Arnold Book number 8: Arnold's E-files
- And of course, Hey Arnold, The movie, a novelization by Craig Bartlett.
- The first 8 have original art, the last one has some scans from the movie.
- So Laurel, I bought 8 of 9 from amazon about summer 2003, so I hope you still can get them from there, I think they cost about ten books each.
- I hope this could have help you!
- See ya!
Manolo, 08/02/2006 8:05 PM
- Dear King Cheeta, Cool and the rest of you guys!
- Fist of all, I want to publicy recognize the amazing talent, incredible intellect and unquestionable good taste of King Cheeta, because Arnold's E-Files is really something that you need to experiment.
- But even King Cheeta can make minor mistakes. The mystery nick he has alluded is not Golden Warrior, is Golden Hero.
- Maybe it's not futile to remember that a Hero, in the classic sense of the term, is not someone who is specially good, moral, intelligent, good looking or even victorous. A Hero is only someone who can accomplish a task, a task where others fail again and again.
- And my dear Cool, you, and anyone who is lucky enough to have not read "Arnold's e-files" and so still have the chance to wonder at this little book, I know the words I have just said maybe mean nothing to you. But believe me when I said that this book talks us about the real world, where maybe you can't get the girl or the guy you heart desires, but that doesn't mean you must give up to despair.
- Alberto/ Number6 / Brainy
Manolo, 08/02/2006 8:12 PM
- Dear Cool:
- I have some scans about book eight, because I wanted to make a personal page about my favorite HA! character, so if you want them, please contact me to my mail and instruct me how to send them to you!
- Thanks for mantaining this cool page!

kcheetah999, 29/06/2006 11:30 PM
- Okay, I've given everyone enough time to track these down before I let any cats out of the bag, so SPOILER ALERT before you read any further.
Alrighty then. As stated, the story centers around a computer lab set up for the forth graders by a sixth grader named Mary Margaret and her righthand gal Siobhan (the brilliant thirdgrader from "Phoebe Skips"). As expected, Arnold instantly falls for Mary, and Siobhan falls for Arnold. Add to this Helga begins getting mystery e-mails from a "Golden Hero".Farcical and briskly paced, this would have probably been a really funny episode, and more importantly a deeper look at one of the secondary characters, namely Brainy. Yeah, not surprisingly, he's Helga's secret penpal, and we finally get a peek past the weezing, to reveal a poet and hopeless romantic. Nice to finally see him as something other than a stalker. ^___^
Greenorbs2, 29/06/2006 11:58 PM
- "Arnold's E-Files" is a great story. I really enjoyed it, and yeah, it was nice to see Brainy's character receive just a little depth.
GräfinZahl, 30/06/2006 7:03 PM
- What a coincidence that you mention those book cause I too discovered that they exist just a couple of days ago :)
I ordered Return of the Sewer King and Arnold's E-Files from eBay and Mystery of the Bermuda Triangle from Amazon.
Return of the Sewer King has arrived already. However, I'm still waiting for the other two. Anyway, I'm making a digital version of the book right now by typing/scanning the pages and turning them into a PDF-file. So, if you want a copy of it feel free to contact me: grafzahl111(at)hotmail(dot)com. (I won't upload the file anywhere because that would be a major voilation of copyright law)
Manolo, 01/07/2006 2:37 AM
- Dear GrafinZahl, Greenorbs2 y King Cheeta!
- I'm very excited about your entusiasm for "Arnold's e-files". As a matter of fact, I don't think Brainy is precisely a "Secondary" character. He is, after all, in most of the chapters, and even when he can't talk a lot, he's always there. Craig Bartlett himself do the voice for the character, and then, I think the real point of having Helga yearning for Arnold and claiming that she cannot know what to do, is to have Brainy behind her, a guy who doesn't give up trying to express his love, like he is the answer to her question.
Cool, 02/07/2006 11:23 PM

- Nancy, are you going to do that with ALL the books? That would be so cool! Mail them to me when you get the chance!
- As for everyone raving over these books, too bad these episodes weren’t made for a sixth season batch of HA! animated stories. If you look at these, and ALL the stories Craig mentioned in chats and interviews that we wanted to tell but never got the chance too, we’d already have a whole new season of 20 or so episodes.

GräfinZahl, 02/07/2006 11:30 PM
- @ Stephen: Check your inbox, I already sent you the PDF a couple of hours ago :)
And yes, if I ever get all the books I'm trying to make a PDF version from every one of them. Mystery of the Bermuda Triangle and Arnold's e-Files should be next since I ordered them last week.
Cool, 02/07/2006 11:43 PM
- Damn you are fast! :) I'll try and reply to that e-mail of yours asap. Hopefully I'll have time before the weekend runs out.
- Stephen
GräfinZahl, 06/07/2006 1:34 PM
- I got Mystery of the Bermuda Triangle today :) So I'll start on the next PDF tonight.
GräfinZahl, 16/07/2006 12:56 AM
- Sorry about the delay. Mystery of the Bermuda Triangle is available as PDF now. The filesize is 3.7 MB due to the 14 pic scans.
Again, if you want a copy of it just email me (grafzahl111[at]hotmail[dot]com).
I was thinking about transcribing Arnold's E-Files next, but first I wanted ask for a little feedback here since the whole process is quite time consuming and I wanted to make sure, that you are actually interested in reading the story, so that I won't waste my time on this.
Cool, 16/07/2006 11:57 AM
- I for one am interested, and very thankful you're putting so much work into them. I hear so much good things about Arnold's E-Files, I'd love to read that story.
- Sorry for the delay to replying to your e-mail, Nancy, as always I've been very busy. It's noon right now (I just woke up and slept 12 hours from 12-12, never have done that before:) so hopfeully by the end of today you'll be hearing from me.

Hurricos, 25/07/2006 3:00 PM
- I have Arnold's E-File's and the Mystery of the Bermuda Triangle books and I have to say that they both are great! Finally I know why Brainy keeps stalking Helga, lol.
- starts singing* I always feel like somebody's watching me, and I got no privacy. I always feel like somebody's watching me, tell me is it just a dream? 'Love that song. It's probably what Helga's thinking whenever she hears Brainy's wheezing.
- Helga: Crimeny, can't I get any privacy anymore?! (Socks Brainy with a backwards punch.)
- 'Can't believe that Micheal Jackson actually did background music for some one else's song than his though. 0_o?
- Hurricos.EXE logging out!
GräfinZahl, 13/08/2006 10:14 PM
- The Arnold's E-Files PDF is finally available! :) As always, write me (grafzahl111 at hotmail dot com) if you want a copy. However, please don't give me a Hotmail address to send the file to 'cause for some reason it just doesn't work. Out of four people I couldn't send the files to three of them because the mails were returned immediately. So, no Hotmail please. GMail works fine though.
