Fishing Trip storyboard cover

Storyboard cover art.

  • Running Gag: The guys farting at night, and Harold getting attacked by wild animals while trying to eat them.
  • Eugene and Sid's fathers were credited as "Nate" and "Ray", respectively, but are never referred to by name in the episode.
  • Grandpa seems to forget some of the camping skills he had in the episode "Roughin' It".
  • Davy Jones' backup singer is voiced by Jim Lang.
  • Another Nicktoon that had the song "Miss Suzie had a Tugboat" was Rocko's Modern Life.
  • It's ironic Stinky didn’t go on the trip, since he was shown to be a great fisher in "Big Caesar" and he’s better accustomed to the outdoors than the others.
  • This marks one of the few episodes in which a character uses the word "Crap", the character being Harold.
  • When this episode airs on The Splat, it ends abruptly mid-Davy Jones' line and cuts to commercials.
  • Moral: You should be honest about how you feeling about something. Also sometimes new things are better than old things.
  • Innuendo: After Grandpa suggests to go fishing he jokingly says "For the halibut", which is a pun on the phrase "For the hell of it".

Cultural References[]

  • The storyboard cover for the episode is a parody of the famous "Luke, I Am Your Father" scene from The Empire Strikes Back, with Sid and Ray dueling with fishing rods. The credit on the board contains several Star Wars references.
  • The part when they're farting in their tents from beans is a reference to the movie Blazing Saddles.
  • Davy Jones appears in this episode in a cameo as himself. He’s best known for being a member of The Monkees.
