Slow and steady wins the race. Arnold paces himself when eating until he wins. Consistent effort and perseverance can lead to success, even when competing against someone who seems more talented but is overconfident and careless.
The importance of humility. Seymour spends the time before the eating contest stuffing his face. He thought, no matter how much he ate, he was too good to win.
